If you’re looking to mark your university milestone with timeless photos that truly capture the spirit of London, a graduation photoshoot in London is a perfect way to do it. From the world-famous Big Ben and Westminster Bridge to the striking beauty of Tower Bridge, these locations combine iconic architecture with that unmistakable London charm - ideal for celebrating such a special moment.

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Rylie and her partner for a combined graduation and couples photoshoot in the city. Rylie had just graduated from university in London and wanted to commemorate this huge achievement with a set of photos that felt both meaningful and iconic. She brought along her cap and gown, and we spent the morning capturing a mix of classic graduation portraits and relaxed, candid shots with her partner.

We started the session around Big Ben, taking advantage of the soft morning light and quieter streets. The area around Westminster Bridge offered the perfect mix of grand architecture and open space - ideal for those proud graduate moments. From there, we headed to Tower Bridge, where the striking views and iconic structure gave a dynamic backdrop for couples shots. The session felt like a celebration of both achievement and love - a perfect blend for Rylie and her partner.
The session felt like a celebration of both love and achievement - and honestly, that’s what makes shoots like this so special.

Tips for a Graduation Photoshoot in London
Best time to shoot:
Early mornings (between 6am and 9am) are ideal for both Big Ben and Tower Bridge, especially if you want those clean, crowd-free shots. The golden light also looks incredible against the city’s architecture - perfect for both graduation portraits and couples photography.
Travel tips:
Big Ben area: The nearest tube stop is Westminster Station, right next to the bridge and the Houses of Parliament.
Tower Bridge: You can get here easily via London Bridge or Tower Hill stations - both around a 10-minute walk from the bridge itself.

Outfit ideas:
If you’re bringing your graduation gown, pair it with something classic underneath - a dress or suit that complements your university colours works well. For a mix of styles, consider a second outfit for couple photos - something you’d wear on a nice day out in London. Bring a small bag to store your gown and hat between locations.
Footwear:
There’s quite a bit of walking between spots, especially if you’re shooting at both Big Ben and Tower Bridge, so bring comfortable shoes or a backup pair to change into.
Seasonal tips:
Summer: Warm light and earlier sunrise times make for beautiful golden-hour sessions.
Autumn & Spring: Cooler weather, but still stunning light - and often fewer crowds.
Winter: Bundle up - the crisp light looks gorgeous but it can be chilly by the river!
