If you’re planning a photoshoot in London and want to capture those truly iconic moments - Tower Bridge is a must. Often mistaken for London Bridge, it’s one of the city’s most famous landmarks and a perfect backdrop for a London vacation photoshoot. From sweeping river views to the beautiful blue steelwork of the bridge itself, this spot captures the essence of London in one frame.
Right next to it is a hidden gem called Shad Thames - a charming maze of cobbled streets and brick archways that feels straight out of a film set. With its warm tones and old-world character, it’s a stunning contrast to the modern skyline nearby. Whether you’re after something cinematic, romantic, or classic, Shad Thames adds a timeless touch to any Tower Bridge photoshoot.

Recently, I photographed a lovely family visiting from the USA who wanted to capture their time in London with a few photos at its most recognisable spots. They were an absolute joy to work with - relaxed, playful, and full of laughter. Because they booked a longer session, we were able to explore not only Tower Bridge but also wander down to St Katharine Docks, where we snapped a few fun moments by the red phone boxes too. It was the perfect mix of iconic and personal, and the photos turned out beautifully - memories to treasure for a lifetime.

Tips for a Photoshoot at Tower Bridge in London
Opening hours:
Tower Bridge and the surrounding areas are open to the public 24/7. Do note that occasional marathons or events can lead to temporary closures, meaning you might not be able to shoot directly on the bridge — but there are plenty of great viewpoints nearby.
Best time to shoot:
To capture those clean, crowd-free shots, early mornings are best. From around 6am to 9am, the light is soft, golden, and the streets are quieter. After 9am, it gets busy quickly, especially on weekends, so an early start is well worth it.
Travel tips:
By car: It’s not ideal to arrive by Uber or taxi, as Tower Bridge Road can be congested and tricky for drop-offs. You’re better off being dropped at either end of the bridge and walking the rest of the way.
By public transport: The nearest stations are London Bridge and Tower Hill, both around a 10-minute walk away. London Bridge offers Underground, Overground, and National Rail services, while Tower Hill connects to the Circle and District lines.

Footwear:
The Tower Bridge route involves less walking than other London shoots, so wear what feels good! If you’ve booked a longer session and plan to explore Shad Thames or nearby areas, it’s smart to bring a comfy pair of shoes for walking between spots.
Outfit recommendations:
Ultimately, you want to wear something that you feel good in! Tower Bridge’s blue and grey tones pair beautifully with a wide range of colours - from soft neutrals to bold brights. Blue can complement the space nicely, while yellows, reds, or jewel tones will pop perfectly against the backdrop. Bring a coat or wrap if it’s breezy - it can get quite windy near the river!
Seasonal tips:
Summer: Early morning sessions give you stunning golden-hour light that glows across the bridge.
Autumn, Winter & Spring: Even without greenery, the light and atmosphere here are stunning year-round, giving each shoot its own unique character.
